W artykule przedstawiono możliwości porównania przestępczości w Europie. Autor omawia wybrane opracowania publikowane w prestiżowych czasopismach, dotyczące krajów europejskich. W analizowanych artykułach szczególną uwagę poświęcono źródłom danych i informacjom o problemach pojawiających się przy porównywaniu przestępczości w skali międzynarodowej. Przedstawiono również opracowanie zatytułowane „The European Sourcebook of Crime and Criminal Justice Statistics”, dostarczające informacji na temat metodologii gromadzenia i przygotowywania danych statystycznych, a także przestępczości i działalności organów wymiaru sprawiedliwości w Europie. Wskazano także na słabe strony tej publikacji, m.in. na kwestie analiz porównawczych rozmieszczenia, poziomu i kierunku rozwoju przestępczości.
